The Fourth of July is as American as apple pie! Celebrating the independence of the country is best done with close friends, family, community events, and, of course, a ton of great food. And if you are in a legal cannabis state like Colorado, you can take that celebration to the next level.
With this being one of the most prolific holidays of the year, the hardest part is deciding what events near you to attend. To make it easy on you, we’ve rounded up some of the best 4th of July events happening in southern Colorado this year. And to make it even easier, we’ve paired each event with the perfect cannabis product for the occasion, all offered at The Spot 420.
Pueblo West’s Wet Parade
Pueblo West’s Wet Parade has been a tradition since the 1970’s when the fire chief turned his hose towards parade-goers to cool them down. Now, it is essentially a giant water fight! People bring water guns, soaker hoses, and water balloons, and fill their pick up truck beds with water for easy refilling. It’s an awesome event that is fun for the entire family.
The parade starts on Martinez Boulevard at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 4th. If you would rather stay dry but don’t want to completely miss out on the fun, plan to stay near the beginning of the parade route in what is designated as the “dry” section. If the parade isn’t your style in general, there are food trucks, beer, and all sorts of activities to enjoy instead.
For this event, we think a tasty infused beverage will be a great way to pregame and stay elevated all day long. Plus, you won’t have to worry about your flower, pre-roll, or vaporizer pen getting wet. Start your day with a Dixie Elixir’s infused lemonade! You can mix this beverage with muddled strawberries for a delicious and non-alcoholic cocktail or enjoy it straight out of the bottle.
Trinidad 4th of July Festival
In Trinidad, the 4th of July is more than just one day of celebrations. From July 4th through 8th, there are activities throughout the town to celebrate America’s independence. This includes the popular 4th of July Festival that takes place on Wednesday, July 4th.
The festival opens at 12:00 PM on the Central Ball Park and lasts all day long. Unfortunately, super dry weather conditions make fireworks a fire hazard and have been canceled this year. But don’t worry! There are activities planned all day long that will more than make up for it, starting with yoga on the baseball field from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM, followed by inflatable games, an artocade display, a car show, corn hole, bike decorating and a bicycle parade, All-American apple pie and watermelon eating contest.
Before you head to the event, enjoy a few hits of Sour Lemon OG by The Spot 420. This is a 65% Sativa strain named after its aromatic sour smell. It will keep you energized and euphoric throughout the day. But, if you want to easily and discretely dose while at the festival, bring some edibles with you! Canyon Cultivation’s single serving lollipops, in boysenberry and caramel apple, are 10mg of THC and will keep you feeling good all day long without getting you in trouble for smoking in public.
Liberty Point 5k Run
Does your idea of celebrating the 4th of July entail something a little more active than drinking all day long? If so, the Liberty Point 5k is the perfect event for you. Sponsored by the United Way of Pueblo County, this is a great option to give back to the community and your own body.
The race starts at 7:30 AM on Wednesday, July 4th, and will include light refreshments at the end. Bring the entire family for the 5k run or if you operate on a slower pace, sign up for the 5k walk.
If you are worried about being sore after the race, The Spot 420 has you covered. Stop by for a Mary’s Transdermal CBD Patch that will preempt or help with the pain after the tough workout. All you have to do is place the patch on the sore area and wait for it to work its magic! Using cannabis to help pain has never been easier!
Symphony Above The Clouds
To extend the 4th of July celebrations an extra day, enjoy a night of magical music at Symphony Above The Clouds in Colorado Springs! This is an annual event on July 5th, featuring the Colorado Springs Philharmonic Orchestra, offered to the community for absolutely free. All you have to do is head over to the Woodland Park Middle School athletic field with your family, friends, and a blanket or chairs. You can pack a picnic with you purchase food at the event.
Keep your consumption discrete with a 600 mg Neos Premium label vape cartridges. These come in different varieties, all packed with potency and flavor.
If you need to stock up for the holiday, The Spot 420 has two convenient locations in southern Colorado, Pueblo and Trinidad, stocked with all your favorite and hard to find strains, edibles, tinctures, topicals, concentrates, and more. And while 4th of July is a particularly great time to remember the Veterans and troops that keep us safe, we celebrate these people every day with a military discount.
